This course examines the application of psychology to sport and exercise. The theory, philosophy, and practice of psychological skills training is examined and students will critically reflect on the application of psychological skills training in the context of sport and exercise. Explicit consideration is given to the role of psychological factors that contribute to participation and performance in sport and exercise, and in-turn, to the influence that sport and exercise participation can have on psychological functioning and mental health. The focus is on the practical application of psychological skills and methods. Accordingly, the course comprises conventional lectures combined with more practical and interactive learning activities.
