This course will support initial teacher education students to explore their role as a committed member of the teaching profession.
On the successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:1. Analyse effective pedagogies for advocacy, sustainability, social justice and leadership within the early childhood curriculum and management of an early childhood service.2. Investigate and report on ethical issues and ethical decision making in early childhood settings.3. Analyse the central role of whānau in early childhood settings and the teacher's role in supporting and sustaining this.4. Identify and analyse ways in which an early childhood teacher should take part in decision-making and advocacy processes about issues that relate to the early childhood field.
