This course will further develop students' understanding and knowledge of how to give effect to the vision of the New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa. Students will experience, as well as learn about, the dimensions of effective pedagogy and how these dimensions inform the principles and practice of designing and implementing effective learning experiences, including good practice for Maori and Pasifika learners. Students will implement these understandings when undertaking the associated Professional Practice course.
1. Reflect, examine, demonstrate and articulate the teacher dispositions, teacher values and culturally-based pedagogy that encourage reflective thought and action, and to become a strong advocate of culturally responsive practice for all students, and particularly for Māori and Pasifika learners. 2. Examine and articulate a range of management strategies that encourage positive and respectful relationships with all learners.3. Examine and articulate an understanding of effective pedagogy to identify, facilitate, monitor and record learning for all children.4. Critically engage with a variety of assessment methods to inform next steps in teaching and learning.5. Further demonstrate development and implementation of Te Reo Māori me ōna Tikanga as this relates to the New Zealand Curriculum (2007)6. Examine and articulate an understanding of teacher actions, including the successful application of digital technologies that promote children’s learning.
