TEPP305 Professional Practice 5 has a particular focus for students on assessment and planning in an early childhood context of Aotearoa New Zealand. Students will be expected to integrate knowledge and skills from year one and year two courses and be able to observe and engage in planning and assessment within the centre programme.
By the conclusion of the course students will be able to:Demonstrate continuity of professional attributes at a satisfactory level, across the teaching practice.Demonstrate competence in self assessment, with reference to the expected year 1, year 2 and year 3 competencies, and as a beginning teacher.Demonstrate the professional skills of reflective practice.Demonstrate effective self management, with reference to professional behaviour within the teaching practice setting.Demonstrate commitment to professional growth by identifying, reflecting upon and evaluating progress towards appropriate professional goals.

Professional Practice documentation in Report Book completed and requirements met to satisfactory or above standard.
Students will be expected to conduct at least one pre-placement visit at their allocated school. Full attendance in school for the duration of the practicum, from at least 8.00am - 4.00pm each day, is a requirement.Students will attend a debriefing interview with their PP lecturer after the placement concludes. This interview wil be conducted at a University of Canterbury campus or via flexible delivery mechanisms.
On campus students assignments are to be submitted with a cover sheet to the Assignments Room in Ōrakipaoa (College Office building), accessed from the back doors closest to The Collective (the USCA Cafe), by 5.00pm, or by the time directed by the course lecturer, on or before the due date. Please use the drop boxes placed at the back entrance to Ōrakipaoa.Pick up arrangements: It is your responsibility to pick up each of your assignments from the Assignments Room. Lecturers will not follow up on resubmits and fails. This is your responsibility. Hours of operation of the Assignments Room for pick- ups are 11am-2pm weekdays.
