Description

This course (1) develops students' abilities to identify and understand contemporary auditing issues and related professional problems, and (2) develops a capability to identify, design and conduct research relating to such issues/problems.

Learning Outcomes

  • Once students have successfully completed this course, they should be able to:
  •  demonstrate an ability to identify current auditing issues and the related professional problems;
  •  identify and critically evaluate relevant auditing research;
  •  report the results of current research concerning these problems and show to what extent they deal with the professional issues; and
  •  develop a research design to address an auditing issue which is relevant to the New Zealand and/or international environment.

Textbooks / Resources

A readings book containing all the assigned readings will be made available at the start of the course.  However, students will be required to read more widely.  Articles in the readings book include comprehensive references which in many instances provide a starting point for further reading. Students are encouraged to make full use of library resources.
