This course will be taught bilingually: in te reo Maori and English. This course aims to increase the fluency of kaiako in te reo Maori and will provide a wide range of conversational and contextual opportunities to engage in te reo Maori. Kaiako will be able to demonstrate an understanding of te reo Maori me nga tikanga-a-iwi applicable to a variety of learning contexts, and informal contexts with whanau and community.
On the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:1. Explain explicit connections between te reo Māori, tikanga Māori and mātauranga Maōri.2. Demonstrate developing proficiency to portray ideas related to Ko wai ahau? using te reo Māori me ōna tikanga. 3. Explore and support the provision of dialect and iwi specific intricacies. 4. Demonstrate increasing confidence and competence to use te reo Māori authentically in Mana Aotūroa | Teaching Exploration and with whānau.
