This introductory course explores the Antarctic continent, the Southern Ocean and the sub-Antarctic islands. It aims to develop an understanding of the relevance of the polar regions to current issues such as climate change, environmental management, and living resource conservation and protection. The content of the course will be a combination of ANTA102 and ANTA103. The course will be delivered entirely online through LEARN, which will allow students flexibility as to when they view the lectures.
ANTA101 will run as a summer course each year similar to the previous year listing.Enrolments for summer courses do not open until October. Details of current year summer courses are not available until closer to that time.

The content of the course will be a combination of ANTA 102 and ANTA 103.The course will be delivered entirely on line through LEARN which will allow students flexibility as to when they view the lectures and course content.The course will involve video lectures, interactive discussion through the Learn Forum, a set of internal assessments (quizzes) and a final test - all done online.

There will be a weekly assesment with each assesment worth 10% of the course mark. The final test will be worth 50% of the course mark. The final test will be available online on Monday 20 December. (You will not be required to come to campus to take the final test)
