Advanced theories of evolution, emphasising the interaction between ecology and evolution, in relation to the evolutionary history of species and interactions among them.
The unifying theme of the course is natural selection and adaptation within lineages, and cladogenesis - the evolution of new lineages through splitting- with an emphasis on the ecological selection pressures and genetic systems. Note: BIOL378 (Conservation and Ecology of Populations) is highly recommended as a complimentary course.
