General principles of criminal law (liability for offences, overview of party liability, inchoate offences and general defences).
This course introduces general principles of criminal law including: liability for offences, overview of party liability, inchoate offences and general defences. It also embed core library skills for Criminal Justice students.
A successful student will, by the end of the course, be able to:• Demonstrate an understanding of the general principles of criminal law;• Demonstrate an understanding of how these principles and features will be applied in individual cases;• Engage in critical analysis of issues where the current law poses particular difficulties for individuals concerned with the criminal justice process and for criminal justice professionals.
This course will provide students with an opportunity to develop the Graduate Attributes specified below:
