Description

Group, Family and Systems Interventions

An examination of the theory and practice of group counselling, family counselling and organisational structure.

Although this course is administratively separate from EDUC662 (Counselling Skills), you will find it useful to draw on material from both courses during the year.  EDUC658 has a balance of theory, experiential learning and practice

Learning Outcomes

Specific aims:
a) To learn and implement effective principles and practices of group work;
b) To understand the structure and procedures of organisational life and to plan for effective change;
c) To understand families and relationships as systems and be able to work with them to achieve their desired changes;
d) To extend your view of counselling to incorporate approaches that are additional to the one-to-one setting;
e) To encourage you to use self-reflection to inform and influence your practice.
