Te reo o te whenua tahi aims to develop a working knowledge of Matauraka Kai Tahu and a higher level of proficiency in te reo Maori. Reo whakamihi (words of acknowledgement and gratitude) will be taught to use in both formal and informal settings as well as increasing everyday use of te reo Maori and appropriate enactment of tikanga Maori.
On the successful completion of this course, students will be :1. Demonstrate an understanding of the cultural and iwi identity affiliations and markers (particularly to Kāi Tahu).2. Demonstrate increased kaiako capacity to use appropriate formal and informal reo whakamihi (practices of acknowledgement) as well as enact appropriate tikanga to sit alongside these practices.3. Demonstrate increased confidence and competence to use te reo Māori me ōna tikanga in a range of formal and informal settings through supporting quality language revitalisation practices, planning and resource creation.
