Description

An introduction to the basic principles of circuit theory. RLC circuits, sensors, filters, operational amplifiers and simulation techniques.

Semiconductors and their application, signal theory, digital logic, A/D and D/A converters, transducers, microprocessors and modern instrumentation, computer interfacing.

Prerequisites

(1) PHYS113 and PHYS114; (2) MATH108. These prerequisites may be replaced by a high level of achievement in NCEA Level 3 Physics and Mathematics with Calculus or other background as approved by the Head of Department. RP: MATH109 and COSC122.
