Conduct laboratory and pilot-plant experiments, do design and analysis of experiments using statistical methods, and analyse data to reach significant conclusions. This course serves as important introduction to a variety of real pieces of process equipment that students may be involved in operating after graduating. It also serves as preparation for the individual and group project work at 400 level.This course builds on the skills acquired in second year chemical engineering laboratories, extending the range of reporting, allowing the student to take more initiative, and generally increasing the size of the plant used to pilot scale. The experiments are related to other ENCH 300 series courses currently being studied. A lab demonstrator will assist with running each lab and check beforehand that all participants have the required level of knowledge to use the lab safely. Although they will show students how to operate the equipment safely, it is up to students to be plan their experiments and ensure that the correct data is collected.
