Description

Systems concepts and the context of engineering decisions. Engineering ethics. Mangement of people, projects and organisations in the construction industry.

Learning Outcomes

This course will enable students to:

- use models of motivation, leadership, groups, communication and culture to understand the relationships between the members of an organisation,
- develop an ability to make informed business decisions regarding the operation of a construction company
- be able to evaluate system quality and how sustainability relates to engineering
- appreciate ethical responsibilities of professionals particularly with regard to health and safety
- gain a deeper knowledge of the processes required for managing infrastructure projects through their life cycle including contract administration and human resource management.
