Introduction to Electrical and Computer Engineering design principles. Electronic circuit simulation leading to a design-and-build project including circuit design and simulation, printed circuit board design, and construction of a working device with documentation. Documentation preparation.
Topics covered include:● Mechanical analysis, drawing and design using Solidworks● Circuit analysis and simulation using TINA ● PCB design and assembly using KiCAD● Engineering design process
At the end of this course, the student will be able to: ● implement basic top-down design methodologies● produce mechanical drawing and designs suitable for 3D printing● perform circuit analysis, design and simulation using software tools● design, construct and test a simple PCB board● build and test a prototype project● communicate their work in a design report
