Description

Problems in dynamics: free and forced vibrations, damped single degree of freedom systems, transmitted forces and vibration isolation, two degree of freedom systems.

Course Outline:  In this course, roughly divided into two parts, we study the kinematic and kinetic laws of linear and discrete systems which will transfer into deriving the equations of motion of the same. The second half of the course is reserved for analysing the behaviour of free and forced vibrations of single- as well as multi-degree of freedom systems.

Outline of first half of the course - Dynamics: Kinematics of particles and rigid bodies, dynamics of particles and rigid bodies, elements of analytical mechanics (principle of work and energy, principle of virtual velocities, etc.)

outline of second half of the course - Vibrations: Free, (un)damped, forced vibrations of single degree of freedom systems, vibration analysis (harmonic analysis, Fourier, Laplace), multi degree of freedom systems, vibration suppression
