Project
The projects course will be a challenging capstone experience for mechanical engineering students as they complete their four year honours degree. It provides a meaningful culminating experience that introduces students to the multidisciplinary aspects of engineering. This primarily self-directed course builds upon the knowledge and skills that students have gained from other engineering courses taken as part of the professional engineering degree. Under the guidance of an academic supervisor, students will develop an appreciation for the depth and breadth of knowledge and skills necessary for successful implementation of a significant development effort. Professional working practice will be learned in the context of a realistic engineering problem. The integrative aspects of the final year project experience will be emphasized. Professional development in areas of leadership, team dynamics, interpersonal relationships, technical communications, and project management will be learned via active participation in an engineering project that is important to a sponsor. The projects experience will be a bridge from academic practice to professional practice.
