An intensive finance and economics course for students with the minimum entry requirement for the MAFE degree. The course reviews foundational content in skills and techniques in finance and economics that students will likely be deficient in if they have met only the minimum pre-requisites. Students will become proficient in the use of math, or else the ability to evaluate the math, for finance and economics topics they would have seen in the undergraduate pre-requisite for entry to the programme.
The course will cover the content in three modules: 1) mathematics illustrated with microeconomics, 2) business finance, and 3) introductory econometrics. These modules will cover material that students need to master prior to taking other MAFE courses. Students will be required to take one, two, or all three modules, depending upon their prior university coursework. Each module will run in staggered four week sequences – module 1 over weeks 1,2,3 and 4, module 2 over weeks 2,3,4 and 5, and module 3 over weeks 3,4,5 and 6.
