Description

Corporate governance theory and practice. Topics include: Corporate governance in New Zealand, Australia, and around the world; Theories of corporate governance; The board of directors and its committees; Director and executive remuneration; Corporate governance scandals; and Stakeholders.

Learning Outcomes

The objectives of the course are:
a) To provide students with an understanding of recent developments in corporate governance theory and research;
b) To expose students to a variety of research methods used in corporate governance research;
c) To expose students to international trends in corporate governance regulations and practices;
d) To build the generic skills of students including:
i Oral and written communication
ii Analytical
iii Critical thinking
