This is the second course in a sequence of six French language acquisition courses offered by the department. Students without the formal prerequisite, but with some previous knowledge of French should consult the department to determine which course is the most appropriate, and may be required to sit a placement test in the first week of term.

The best learning is achieved by constant regular application. This fact, plus the semester-course format, makes FREN122 very intensive. The regular mini-tests allow you to monitor your progress, and help ensure that you don’t miss important steps on the way. There is new material all the time; but revision is built into the course.

This course is for students who have done some French before, such as Year 11 or FREN121. It is NOT for students who have already done Year 13 French (they should go directly into FREN124 or FREN123).

Learning Outcomes

With a pass in this course, you should be ready to proceed to FREN 123 and FREN 124, and could even do a French major in three years.

Prerequisites

FREN121 or FREN104 or a level in French acceptable to the Programme Director.
