Description

This is the third course in a sequence of six French language acquisition courses offered by the school. Students without the formal prerequisite, but with some previous knowledge of French, should consult the Programme Director to determine which course is the most appropriate, and may be required to sit a placement test in the first week of term. Students who have sat Year 13 French will normally enrol in this course or in FREN 124.

This is an intensive course. Classes are organised to encourage you to learn French through using it. They are activity-based. You are encouraged to gain an active mastery of each new point by practising it.

Prerequisites

FREN122 or FREN112 or a level in French acceptable to the Programme Director.

There will be ten mini-tests in class-time (40%), beginning in the second week. This format is used because language learning requires a little bit of work often. It also allows you to monitor your progress. There will be two written tests (20%), one oral test (10%) and a three-hour examination held during the mid-year recess (30%).
