The course aims at the extension of vocabulary and structures of a higher stylistic level also in the grammar classes. Closer attention is also given to correct spelling and punctuation. Students will acquire skills in all four areas of the language (reading, writing, speaking and listening). They will write essays and give presentations on topics from fictional books, films and current social and cultural developments in the German speaking countries. For practicing essay writing and extending reading skills the entertaining novel "Drei Männer im Schnee" by Erich Kästner will be read. The average student will be able to speak and give his/her opinion on more abstract topics in a coherent and intelligible way.
