This course challenges traditional interpretations of New Zealand’s past, including historical myths and stereotypes of New Zealanders and how these developed from first Polynesian settlement and first encounters between Maori and Europeans.  This is a broad survey course which addresses a range of themes including 'race', gender, war and politics until World War II.
