Motivating Behaviour Change II
The purpose of this proposal is to introduce HLTH430/630/PSMX431 Motivating Behaviour Change II, a new Health Sciences Course in the Health Sciences Schedule, which will provide advanced training in motivational interviewing, including theory, specific applications and supervised clinical practice. The course will be taught collaboratively with the National Addiction Centre (Department of Psychological Medicine, Christchurch School of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Otago). By the end of HLTH431/631/PSMX431 course, students will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of the application of motivational interviewing in a wide variety of clinical settings and demonstrate an ability to apply the principles of motivational interviewing in clinical practice.
