This course provides advanced training in motivating behaviour change, including theory, research and practice, with particular emphasis on motivational interviewing.
The course includes two 1-day block classes and work integrated learning, with a particular emphasis on the latter to develop MI skills. Students may attend in-person in Christchurch or online via Zoom.
Following completion of the course students will be expected to demonstrate an ability to:Accurately code practitioner and client behaviour in MI conversations Skilfully apply MI in practice with a range of clientsAccurately reflect on their own MI practice.

Students must attend one activity from each section.
