Object-oriented analysis, design and development. Includes a development project of the student's own choice. Prior programming experience not essential.
The overall emphasis is upon the concepts of object-oriented analysis, and the design and implementations of information systems. But to gain this knowledge you must first gain practical skills in OO analysis, learning how to use this OO computer language (Jade) and its develpment environment. In lectures we will work together through one object-oriented system design and implementation project; in the textbook and tutorials you will work through another and in your personal course project you will work through a project of your own choice.
INFO213 Object-oriented systems develpment aims to provide...1. Some experience and understanding of the real-life problems of designing and implementing an information system - an understanding suited to the future needs of a business analyst, system designer, management consultant, or a manager involved in managing the selection or specification of a new system, and2. an introduction to modern object-oriented (OO) systems: their analysis, design and implementation, and3. practical experience and skills in working with an enterprise-level OO development system, using Jade as the exemplar tool.
