This is a final year course for students majoring in Japanese. A wide variety of reading materials and tapes are used with the aim of further advancing students’ reading and writing abilities in Japanese, as well as their aural/oral skills.
During this year students confront current issues of Japanese society. The texts and supplementary handouts take them to an advanced level of reading and writing in Japanese. More sophisticated problems of grammar, semantics and translation are encountered, and frequent assignments involve translation from and into Japanese and composition in Japanese. The successful completion of this course with at least a B grade is a prerequisite for admission to the B.A.(Hons) and M.A. programmes.
