Challenges and institutional responses to global environmental problems, including global warming.
The course will be an introduction to the institutional and legal framework within which the global community is responding to environmental problems. It will include discussion of the international legal and political contexts within which the problems and policy responses are evolving, as well as the nature and context of global environmental problems themselves. Case studies will focus on issues such as climate change, marine pollution, biodiversity conservation and Antarctica.LAWS324 Principles of Public International Law, is a pre-requisite for this course. Admission may be allowed by the Dean if a student is concurrently enrolled in LAWS324.
