The fourth industrial revolution relates to advancements in technology, automation, and data acquisition and processing capabilities. In this course, we focus on the latter: we discuss accounting and non-accounting data and how these can be acquired, processed and analysed. We will also discuss the underlying assumptions, conditions and limitations of data generating processes and selected data analysis methods. These issues are explored within case studies taken from different academic research lines and industry sectors. Participants in this course have the opportunity to up-skill their capabilities in financial analysis and complex systems modelling. The insights obtained are useful in strategic decision-making and real options (e)valuation.
