This course covers core principles, tools, and techniques for successful IT project management, the role and responsibilities of a project manager and challenges of IT project management.
This course aims to help students gain advanced knowledge and skills related to the management of IT-related business projects and expose them to the practical application of those skills. It covers key principles, tools, and techniques for successful IT project management, as well as the role and responsibilities of a project manager and challenges of IT project management.
The outcomes of the course are: 1. Apply key concepts, principles, techniques, practices and theories that underlie IS project management to an IS project. 2. Evaluate and report on current research on a contemporary issue related to IS project management. 3. Identify, plan for, manage and negotiate key deliverables that meet the needs of a client organisation and can be delivered on time, and within budget. 4. Evaluate and address key issues related to organising and leading project teams. 5. Use various project management tools and techniques (e.g. MS Project) to help plan and manage an IS project.
