Description

This course gives a comprehensive overview of theories, models and techniques of managing change in organisations.

This course is based on my change management framework that addresses four key change tasks: (a) Appreciating change, (b) Mobilising support, (c) Executing change, & (d) Building change capability. The course will examine various aspects of these four tasks.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, students would be able to:
1. diagnose change issues in organizations,
2. identify appropriate strategies for mobilising support,
3. explain how managers can execute change and build capability for change,
4. develop strategies for building change capability and leadership.

Relationship to Other Courses:
This course is one of the nine Stage 3 courses in Organisational Leadership and Development (OLD) offered by the Department of Management. It builds on the foundation laid in MGMT206, 207 and 208. The course is useful for students wishing to enter the Honours Programme in Management. It is the basis for the Honours course on Organisational Change (MGMT413).
