This course is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills required to be an effective team member and leader in both face-to-face and virtual settings.
This course provides students with the knowledge and skills required to be a successful team member and leader in both face-to-face and virtual settings. We focus on learning and developing effective interpersonal skills to facilitate working well in a team. The course helps students become more effective in a team setting, either as a team leader or as a team member.A note about teaching methods: MGMT306 is a highly experiential course. You will be creating and running a real organisation, and experiencing the realities of team dynamics in that organisation. While running the organisation you will learn about team processes, team development, leadership, and learn more about yourself in the process. You will need to come to campus for our weekly sessions, and the rest of the work will be facilitated virtually.
The overall objective of this course is to increase your effectiveness as a team member and leader. By the end of the course you will:1. Have improved self-awareness of your behaviour in a group and organisational setting; 2. Have a conceptual understanding of the theory and research relating to teams and group dynamics, and be able to apply that understanding to a real work team;3. Have learned and practised a wide range of practical team membership/leadership skills such as managing conflict, decision-making, communication, and facilitating meetings.

Assessment In Te Reo MāoriIn recognising that Te Reo Māori is an official language of New Zealand, the University provides for students who may wish to use the Te Reo Māori in their assessment.
