Description

The course addresses the topic of leadership in relation to the responsibility of the leader towards various stakeholders (e.g. employees, shareholders, community, suppliers, and environment) in both national and international context. In the course we evaluate advanced leadership theory and build practical leadership capabilities.

The course addresses the topic of leadership in relation to various stakeholders (e.g. employees; shareholders, community, suppliers and the environment) in both a national and international context. In the course we use leadership theory, case studies and experiential in and out of class learning to build practical leadership capabilities.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of the course you should be able to:

    Understand and apply current theory and practice on:
  • leadership integrity; how do we exercise moral leadership?
  • stakeholder engagement; how does our leadership respond to an increasingly interdependent business context?
  • building employee capacity; how does our leading enable others to take responsibility?
  • leadership that makes a positive difference; what needs does our leadership serve?
  • leadership between inspiration and reality; what do we do when our ideals hit reality; how can reality inspire our ideals?

Timetable Note

All classes require student attendance and for students to be prepared for participating in discussions relating to the assigned readings or tasks. Students should expect to, in addition to class time, study for about 6-8 hours per week.
