The objective of MPAC613 is to prepare and critically evaluate strategic management accounting information for planning, budgeting, costing, controlling and decision-making by applying contemporary theory, research and practice.
Management accounting encompasses preparing, analysing, and communicating information to organisational stakeholders, primarily managers, for the purposes of strategic planning, budgeting, costing, controlling and decision-making in organisations across the corporate, public and third sectors. The objective of MPAC613 is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to: (1) practice management accounting; and (2) theorise about, research and critically reflect on the practice of management accounting and its effects on organisations and society.
Graduates can demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of current theoretical concepts, frameworks and industry practice within the fields of professional accounting and business.Graduates can think logically, analytically and critically with respect to the academic literature and professional journals within the field of professional accounting and business.Graduates can plan and carry out independent research that demonstrates critical awareness of academic and professional issues in the fields of professional accounting and business.Graduates can synthesise academic and professional literature and effectively communicate this information and research findings, both orally and in written form, to a range of audiences.
