This course builds on MUSA 141 to provide students with further technical skills, musical knowledge and understanding through performance on an instrument or with voice. Students will gain further knowledge of the repertoire for their particular instrument and undertake a concert performance at the end of the semester. This course is only available to students in the Mus.B.
Public performance is also encouraged so that students continue to develop strengths in this area.This is the second course in a sequence that leads the student towards MUSA342 in which the student will be expected to demonstrate a high level of performance to an external audience.Students will attend individual lessons and performance classes.
Students who pass this course will have developed:* further technical performance skills in an instrument or voice;* further music understanding through performance in an instrument or voice;* an increased knowledge of repertoire for a specific instrument or voice;* improved public performing skills.

The performance examination will be of approximately 15-20 minutes' duration, including technical exercises and at least one short recital piece. Performance demeanour will also contribute to the mark.
