Assessment

Assessment Due Date Percentage  Description
Folio 16 Oct 2009 90% Folio of at least three substantial, original and completed works.
Concert reviews 10% Five one-page concert reviews including programme signed by any School of Music lecturer present.

Assessment will be based upon a folio of compositions completed during the year, attendance and participation in tutorials and composition workshops.

The folio should consist of at least three substantial, original and completed works.  Scores should be properly bound and presented in permanent form.  Correctly documented audio-recordings, photographs and/or videotape of the principal works should be included.  Additional notes or short commentaries may be included.

Students are expected to participate in all composition workshops (Monday 1-3 pm), and to have at least one substantial work performed there.

Students are also expected to have at least one public performance of a current work this year.

Mid-year report
A written report, together with a non-continuing grade, will be given to each student in the middle of the year.  This will give an indication of the student's individual progress to date but is not counted as part of the final assessment.

Students should make every effort to attend relevant or recommended lunchtime recitals and lectures by visiting composers if they occur outside the composition workshop times.
