Year 2 Practicum
The course objective is to provide the opportunity for students to apply the scienceand practice of clinical psychology in the context of practicum placements. Thefocus for the year 2 practicum is on students gaining further experience withpsychological assessment, and gaining some experience with psychologicalintervention/therapy, with students being given the opportunity to observe andparticipate in intervention/therapy.Students will participate in two 12-week practicum placements in the community oftwo days per week. The placements in the community occur Terms 1 – 4. Studentsare also expected to complete a practicum at the Clinical Training and ResearchCentre, Department of Psychology.
By the end of the course, students should be able to critically integrate assessmentand treatment strategies in supervised clinical work to the satisfaction of both thefield supervisors and the clinical staff. Students are expected to pass both practicalplacements.
