Description

This course introduces students to a range of methods of sociological inquiry. These include both quantitative and qualitative research methods such as surveys, one to one interviews, and life stories. The course offers students the opportunity to gain skills as social researchers. These include experience in research ethics, research design, interviewing, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and survey administration. By the end of the course students will have an understanding of the theoretical, practical and ethical considerations in social research.

Prerequisites

45 points of 200 level SOCI or 30 points of 200 level SOCI  with a B average or better; alternatively  students with  at least  a B average  in 60 points in 200 level  courses in related  subjects may  be admitted  to a 300 level  SOCI course. RP: SOCI201/301/393
