Syllabus:
Forms, transformations, gains and losses of organic matter, N, P, S, Ca, Mg, K and trace elements in soils. Soil acidity and liming. Nutrient cycling in forest ecosystems and its significance to forest nutrition. Soil physical properties and processes. Soil fertility management.

Learning Outcomes

Students will develop an understanding of: soil physical properties affecting plant growth; the chemical and microbiological properties of soils that influence plant growth; and management of soil fertility

Prerequisites

36 points from CHEM, GEOL or BIOL.
