Description

This course focuses on the development of the practice skills needed by students to engage well with individuals and community groups.

Prerequisites

60 points from the BSW Honours schedules. Permission of the Programme Co-ordinator required.

Assessment Due Date Percentage  Description
Lectorial Attendance and Learning Tasks 20% The tasks are introduced each week in the lectorial on Thursday and must be submitted by 5pm the following day (Friday). The tasks can only be completed through lectorial attendance. If less than eight (8) submissions are made then the mark will be 0%. due date: Completion of a minimum of eight (8) learning tasks from the weekly lectorials.
Community Engagement Plan 21 Aug 2026 10% Develop and submit a community engagement plan as a group.
Community analysis presentation 40% This is a group assessment based on research and work throughout the semester. PowerPoint due by 6th October, 11:59pm. In class presentation on the 8th and 15th of October
Reflection essay 30 Oct 2026 30% Individual assessment reflecting on learnings from the group project.
