Description

A language course following on from SPAN 101, for those with limited knowledge of Spanish.

Spanish 102 is a continuing Spanish course that assumes prior knowledge with Spanish at the 101 level.  This course, like the first semester Span101, is communicative in approach and emphasizes the development of all four language-skills.  Hence, this course has five main objectives: to continue to increase the students’ ability in speaking, listening, writing and reading the Spanish language, as well as being exposed to some of the cultural aspects of the Hispanic world.  This course will build on the skills learned in Spanish 101 to extend the students’ ability to express themselves in speech and in writing.  The overall emphasis is on realistic situations that could prove useful in a practical sense.  Since reading and writing can be practiced outside of the classroom, class time will be devoted mainly to listening and speaking activities.  Spanish is spoken by an increasing number of people.  This course will set students on a path that will increase their knowledge of world language and culture.
