Description

This course is a continuation of SPAN301. Students' linguistic skills will be improved and reinforced through extended readings, written assignments and aural/oral activities in class. Grammar will be taught in a cultural content-based context. By the end of this course, students will have a broader knowledge of Hispanic cultures; students will be able to communicate more effectively (orally and in writing) with native and other competent speakers.

The aim of this course is to offer students the opportunity to continue acquiring advanced knowledge of the Spanish language in order to increase their proficiency in the four basic language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing). In addition, cultural topics that relate to the Spanish speaking world will be incorporated in several assignments such as listening activities, readings, compositions or oral presentations. By the end of this course, it is expected that the student will possess a greater command of the Spanish language and upper level grammatical knowledge as well as increased confidence in his/her ability to speak and write in Spanish.
