Description

This course is a continuation of SPAN301. Students' linguistic skills will be improved and reinforced through extended readings, written assignments and aural/oral activities in class. Grammar will be taught in a cultural content-based context. By the end of this course, students will have a broader knowledge of Hispanic cultures; students will be able to communicate more effectively (orally and in writing) with native and other competent speakers.

This course is a continuation of Span301 that requires prior knowledge of Spanish. Like the latter course, the main objective of Span302 is to give students advanced proficiency in Spanish across the four skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing). This course also consists of three main components:  the practice of the more complex aspects of Spanish grammar, the development of effective writing skills, and the improvement of speaking fluidity. Grammar is taught in a content-based approach and students’ linguistic skills will be improved and reinforced through extended reading and writing assignments. In-class activities will include communicative activities in applying grammar to writing and speaking skills.
