General principles of criminal law (liability for offences, overview of party liability, inchoate offences and general defences).
CRJU202 is designed to provided BCJ students, not also studying for a Law degree, with a satisfactory level of knowledge and understanding of the principles of criminal law necessary for persons working in, or with, the criminal justice system.
A successful student will, by the end of the course, be able to: Demonstrate an understanding of the general principles of criminal law; Demonstrate an understanding of how these principles and features will be applied in individual cases; Engage in critical analysis of issues where the current law poses particular difficulties for individuals concerned with the criminal justice process and for criminal justice professionals.
This course will provide students with an opportunity to develop the Graduate Attributes specified below:
