This course examines learning and coaching theories and practices related to sport for athletes with disabilities.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:Demonstrate knowledge of historical perspectives on disability sport.Discuss sociological theory relating to disability sport.Evaluate current policies relating to athletes with disabilities in New Zealand. Demonstrate knowledge of general inclusion strategies.Assess the needs of athletes with a disability.Design a training programme for an athlete with a specific disability (Individual Coaching Plan - ICP).
