This programme ensures you have advanced competency in engineering communication based upon want you learnt in ENCN201. Our objective is to ensure that you have a high level of communication skills and that you have demonstrated an ability to use independent study to improve your skills. Communications Portfolio 2, as with Communications Portfolio 1, is a full-year compulsory programme and cannot be completed in one semester. ENCN301 cannot be taken in the same year as ENCN201Repeating Students: Students retaking ENCN301W must complete the full year (i.e., a student retaking ENCN301W cannot Pass mid-year and then enrol in ENCN493 Semester 2; final grades will be released only at the end of the year).Important: Unlike ENCN201, students are not automatically enrolled in ENCN301W and all students must enrol via MyUC..
Apply the skills learnt from reading and applying the Communications Portfolio Guide (CPG) 3rd edition and attending lectures & tutorials to all course work. Apply skills learnt in ENCN301 to 4th year courses and beyond. Improve on communication skills, with an emphasis on clear and concise writing. Deliver effective written communication to a high standard. Develop an awareness of professional communication standards in the engineering profession.
ENCN201
TEACHING / DELIVERY METHODSENCN301 requires a student to build up a communication portfolio consisting of different types of reports and presentations. The items that make up the portfolio are already part of other courses, and will also be submitted to be marked for ENCN301 to assess a student’s ability to be effective communicators.
