Description

Classical silviculture systems: autecology; stand development and stand dynamics. Applications of tree physiology to silviculture; environmental ecophysiology; tree/soil relationships. Propagation; tree breeding systems; seed orchards; clonal forestry; molecular techniques in tree breeding.

Prerequisites

BIOL112 and BIOL113, or
FORE111, 131 and 141.

Timetable Note

There are three lab/tutorial sessions throughout the semester - timetabled as Fridays from 11 am - 1 pm. The dates will be advised at the commencement of the course.

There is a three-day field trip associated with this course, taking the class to Reefton. Dates are 31 August - 2 September inclusive (during the Term break).
