Description

This course gives a comprehensive overview of theories, models and techniques of managing change in organisations.

This course is based on my change management model that requires managers to address four key change tasks: (a) Appreciating change, (b) Mobilising support, (c) Executing change, & (d) Building change capability. The course will examine various aspects of these four tasks.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, you should be able to:
1. explain Industry evolution,
2. list strategies for mobilising support,
3. explain how managers can execute change and build capability for change,
4. conduct an appreciative inquiry and analyse their findings.

This course is one of the six Stage 3 courses in Human Resources offered by the Department of Management. It builds on the foundation laid in MGMT206/216, 207 and 208. The course is useful for students wishing to enter the Honours programme in Management. It is the basis for the Honours course on Organisational Change (MGMT413).
