This course emphasises the development of the skills and knowledge required for successful managerial performance in diverse organisations. It focuses on topics such as developing self-awareness, creative problem-solving, supportive communication, the use of power and influence, motivation techniques, and managing conflict. The course uses active and interactive teaching methods and requires in-person engagement. During lecture times we will doing activities, simulations, group discussions, and other exercises to teach you about management skills and how to apply theory to real-life situations.
The objectives of the course are:1. Demonstrate applicable knowledge of the common skills needed for managerial effectiveness.2. Understand the dynamics of human behaviour so as to increase your ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. 3. Be more aware of your values, behaviours and perceptions to understand how they influence your interpersonal behaviour and organisational practice.

Never copy any material directly from AI.• You can use AI to help generate ideas, but NOT write for you. • Don’t trust anything that the tool is writing. • AI is a tool and you need to acknowledge the use of it. Please include a note at the end of any assignment that explains if and how you have used AI and what prompts you have used. Failure to do so violates academic integrity principles and can have serious consequences. Assessment In Te Reo MāoriIn recognising that Te Reo Māori is an official language of New Zealand, the University provides for students who may wish to use the Te Reo Māori in their assessment. If you intend to submit your work in Te Reo Māori you are required to do the following: Read the Assessment in Te Reo Māori Policy and ensure that you meet the conditions set out in the policy. This includes, but is not limited to, informing the Course Coordinator 1) no later than 10 working days after the commencement of the course that you wish to use Te Reo Māori and 2) at least 15 working days before each assessment due date that you wish to use Te Reo Māori.
