Description

Further techniques and applications in experimental physics.

PHYS281 and PHYS282 are taught entirely in the laboratory. Students will learn a variety of skills in optics, electronics, spectroscopy, mechanics and measurement. Emphasis is placed on the display and analysis of experimental data using computers, and in communicating results to others.

Students work singly on many of the experiments which include measurements of some of the fundamental physical constants. Assessment is based on the performance and recording of weekly experiments and on written reports about selected experiments.
